My 5 favorite prints for 3D print starters

I still remember when I got my first 3D printer, I couldn’t stop thinking about what to print next. In the start, I made many mistakes, because I haven’t learned the basics. So to help you get started on the right foot, I have assembled my 5 recommendations for first prints.

The idea is that you pick one, you learn, and when you feel ready, you go for more complex prints. I love to make my time as a 3D print enthusiast more pleasant, and it is my recommendation that you start with prints that are related to printing, so you can have your hobby for yourself until you master it – Enjoy

Filament clip

3D printed filament clips

You may already have a few colorful rolls of filament, and to keep the strings of the filament organized it helps to have a filament clip. This clip takes less than 5 minutes to print, so it is a great first print.

SD card case

3D printed case for SD card and SD Mini

This next print is also going to make your day as a maker quite a bit easier. If you are like me, you don’t have a place for your SD cards, and then it ends up in your pocket, or at the bottom of a drawer. So having a case for the cards has really helped me. As the filament clip, this also prints in a few minutes, and you don’t need to use support or other settings to get a good print.

The 3D print benchy

The 3D printed benchy boat, used to test various aspects of your printer.

If you don’t already know it, you will soon see the benchy everywhere in the 3D print community. The benchy model is created to test how good your printer is, and can be used to fine-tune and calibrate your printer. I recommend newcomers to 3D printing to print the benchy as one of their first prints and then keep it. That way you can come back in a few days and see how much you have learned.

Filament Keychain

Now it is time to up the game a bit, while still keeping your prints small so you get a fast result. This keychain contains three parts, so it is a good way to try printing multiple objects at the same time. If your print the filament roll in a different color than the other parts, you can also practice switching filament.
